Can you really trust Imported Synthetic Turf

I was at an appointment today, to replace synthetic grass that was installed about 3 years ago by a Company no longer trading. The turf was in terrible condition, the yarn was brittle and breaking of and was very sparse where the yarn had either fallen out or broke down from lack of UV stability. The colour was changing to a blue/green and when I lifted the turf up I saw the backing had started to break down, hence the stitching was falling out.

The customer showed me her receipt and was told she had a 7 year warranty and the yarn had been tested for UV stability, it was an imported product. How very disappointing for this very nice lady to pay good money for a product that has only lasted 3 years, she was very concerned her grand children and her 2 little dogs could get sick or swallow the loose yarn, does it contain lead or mercury, these are questions she has but as the company no longer trades, she will not get any answers. In fairness to the company, the sample he received from overseas could have been tested but the stock that arrives in Australia may  not, so unless it is tested for over 10 years at a reputably facility in Australia, how will they know it will last out the warranty period and not contain heavy metals.

The laboratory at Allunga is credited with the AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TESTING. Authorities, specialising in materials testing and durability evaluation. Allunga is a global reference for natural and accelerated exposure testing. At latitude 19 deg South, the sun passes directly overhead twice each year. The region has harsh tropical climate that is ideal for weathering and durability testing.
