Artificial Grass Measurement Guide

Are you thinking of having artificial grass in your garden to replace natural turf? If so, you’ll be thinking about how you can replace it carefully with the right amount of artificial grass. Any mistakes and you could end up with an uneven surface from either too much or too little turf. Our job today is to give you some tips and advice on how to measure your garden so you have accurate measurements. It’s quite simple and it won’t take long.

Make Sure You Have The Right Tools

You’ll need a few simple tools to get you started, such as a pencil, tape measure, plain paper and a calculator.

Artificial Grass Usually Comes In Strips

Your artificial grass will have to be laid in strips which all face the same direction, if your garden is on the large side, then planning it out on plain or grid paper will help.

Measure your garden using the tape measure going over by up to 10cm so you’ll have a little extra, and allow for potential errors.

You’ll Need a Little Maths.

It’s at this point that you’re going to have to do a little maths, don’t worry it won’t be too complicated, and you can use your calculator which is why we included it in our list of tools earlier.

Rectangle or Square Gardens

If your garden is a rectangular or square shape then measure length and width, and then multiply your measurements by two. For circular gardens measure width and length of the round area and multiply 2 numbers to get the metres2 calculation.

Unusually Shaped Garden?

If your garden is an unusual shape then it would make sense to measure the individual shapes separately. You may have an L shaped garden with rectangular shapes making up the L. What you can do is measure each rectangular shape separately and then add all the measurements together at the end.
