Cobb County Considering Artificial Grass for Road Medians

As the demand for artificial grass has been steadily growing over the past few years, governments and municipalities are starting to take notice of everything synthetic turf has to offer. One of the most recent projects to make headlines comes from Cobb County in Georgia, where commissioners are considering installing artificial grass in road medians. As Cobb County was home to ProGreen’s headquarters until very recently, it made perfect sense for the county to look to our local company to provide the turf for these test projects. While nothing has been finalized yet, it is a big step in the right direction for the county to even be considering the switch.

The applications for artificial grass are endless, but installing it in road medians could not be a more perfect fit for a few reasons, including:

• Safety – The fact that installing artificial grass reduces the number of individuals working in hazardous roadside conditions is reason alone for governments across the country to switch to synthetic.
• Cost – While artificial grass is a higher cost up front, it eliminates the monthly maintenance costs. The county no longer has to fund crews for mowing, weeding, seeding, edging or any other tasks necessary to maintain a natural grass lawn. In addition, the county will not have to afford equipment costs or any repairs to the equipment.
• Aesthetically pleasing – No matter the weather conditions or the season, a road median of artificial grass will be green, lush and beautiful all year long, providing a picturesque view for anyone driving by.
