How To Have A Safe Marshmallow Roast Around Your Artificial Turf

You can use a fire pit, a charcoal grill, a gas grill – all are perfect for roasting marshmallows as well as grilling. By doing your part for Mother Nature, you get the ultimate reward: a sweet, gooey, and oh-so-delicious treat.

Left-over coals are ideal for roasting marshmallows because they aren’t too hot and the heat is evenly dispersed. Flaming hot coals will cremate your treats instead of toasting them to perfection.

Prepare a go-to-bag of supplies – bags of marshmallows, roasting sticks, chocolate bars, graham crackers, and plenty of wet wipes – and you’ll always be ready to roast on a moment’s notice.

Roasting marshmallows has been a tradition for generations, and it’s still beloved by folks of all ages. But this activity does require an open flame, so safety is always important. Especially when kids are around.

Whether you’re using your BBQ to grill food or roast marshmallows, there are simple steps you can take to ensure people and pets stay safe. Following these rules will help protect your artificial turf, too:

• Keep your set-up at least 15 feet from buildings or other flammable objects.
• Use roasting sticks that are at least 30 inches long.
• Use roasting sticks with a wooden handle to protect your hands. (Skip the coat hangers, they’re too short and they conduct heat.)
• Be careful removing your treats, because the hot marshmallow can burn just as much as the hot tip of the stick.

Getting the full roasted marshmallow experience

These goodies are so yummy, you can simply eat them right off the stick (as soon as they’ve cooled a bit!). You can put them on ice cream. Or over cut up fruit in a bowl. Better yet, roast a fruit chunk along with your marshmallow to really get the full flavor.
