LazyLawn® goes the extra mile to increase local school children’s exercise

Children from St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Nantwich can now enjoy regular exercise all year round thanks to LazyLawn^®, who has installed an artificial grass ‘golden mile’ track for the children to run on.

With tackling child obesity at the forefront of schools’ and parents’ agendas, some schools have begun installing a ‘Golden Mile’ to the playground or school field, giving children a safe and measurable amount of physical activities by encouraging them to walk, jog or run around the track within the safety of the school grounds.

St Annes contacted LazyLawn^® to install the long track on the school grounds, creating the perfect all-weather track to be used by pupils, teachers and parents.

LazyLawn® installed 255 linear metres x 1.2m wide of track using Rutland 30mm, meaning the children can now run on their hard-wearing artificial grass all year round, creating a softer landing that does not get damaged through adverse weather.

Parents from the school fundraised for the project, with some fathers of pupils from the school completing the three-peak challenge within 36 hours.

Hazel Brown, Headteacher at St Annes Catholic Primary School said: “The children have been very excited this week to have the new running track. It has been so lovely to see so many children using it at lunch time.

“We want to say a huge thank you to LazyLawn^®, for doing such a great job of our new track and being such considerate workers, working to our every need.

“Each class will get the chance to use the track every afternoon, with events being held after school for parents and families to also make use of the track.

“We are so grateful to be able to encourage the children to continue to be active even throughout the colder months, thank you LazyLawn^®!”
