MetLife Stadium’s Synthetic Turf | Act Global

Metlife_stadium_(Aerial_view)There might be 28 days until kickoff of the official 2017 NFL season, but preseason is in full swing!  Tonight the New York Giants will be coming home to the MetLife stadium to face off against the Pittsburg Steelers in their first exhibition game.  Unfortunately, both teams are missing some of their best starters due to injuries.  The Giants will have to play without wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and quarterback Eli Manning, while the Steelers will be missing their wide receiver Antonio Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  Hopefully without these stars present, some of the rookies in various positions will step up to make an impression.  First round draft pick Evan Engram will have the opportunity to prove himself, along with offensive rookie tackles Chad Wheeler and Adam Bisnowaty.

Tonight’s match will be the second of the preseason at MetLife, the New Jersey stadium that houses both the Giants and the Jets.  Because the stadium is home to two NFL teams, the field has approximately twice as many games played on it compared to other stadiums.  This means that the field has twice as many opportunities for wear and tear to the turf.  Despite this, the synthetic turf at MetLife Stadium has proved its durability and resilience to continue to be an elite playing surface for both teams.  This leading turf technology is why MetLife has continued to choose our brand of synthetic grass for both their 2013 and 2016 field renovations. Met Life Stadium

MetLife Stadium has a shared with interest with Act Global in being an environmentally organization.  MetLife is at the forefront of stadium sustainability, setting industry precedents for green initiatives.  When our brand of turf was replaced in 2016 with a new batch, MetLife recycled every piece of their 2013 surface.  The actual turf was reused in multipurpose projects for gyms, batting cages, and other similar fields, and the infill was saved to use on other fields.  With a 161,000 square foot artificial grass field, MetLife stadium is also helping save millions of gallons of water in each field’s lifetime.  We’re excited work with such a forward thinking organization and commend their many conservation efforts.

Be sure to tune in tonight when the Giants take on the Steelers.  The game will be televised at 7pm (EDT) on the NFL network and streamed online on NFL Game Pass and NFL.com Game Center.
