CARLSBAD, Calif. — McCarter Theater in Princeton, New Jersey, the latest in a long line of theaters and production companies, recently chose SYNLawn to create the most realistic set for their theatrical production of “Stones in His Pockets.”

This latest selection shows once again SYNLawn is the clear choice for set designers in theater and cinema looking to help achieve the ultimate suspension of disbelief in visual storytelling.

“Stones in His Pockets” is set in a rural Irish village, SYNLawn’s wide selection of artificial grass products and true-to life look made it the clear winner to help bring this scenic, mossy look to life. To help create the look, the stage crew creatively cut different shapes into the SYNLawn so that it could be filled with the taller fiber turf.

“The designer chose two SYNLawn varieties because there was a good contrast between the high and low pile turfs coupled with the texture and color. This was a good base to build from,” said Alex Bergeron, technical director for the McCarter Theatre Center.

To enhance the stage even further, scenic artists painted and distressed parts of the synthetic grass to give it more variety and added artificial foliage of long stalks of grass and clovers.

“Seeing SYNLawn come alive on stage is a thrill, and I love working with such creative people,” stated Paula Korinko, sales manager for SYNLawn New Jersey. Korinko’s team installed 660 sq. ft. of SYNBermuda 214 and SYNRye 200 in January before the show’s January 12th four-week run.
