Spring is almost here, and with it, the start of baseball season.

The South Charleston Little League is committed to providing the youth of our community the opportunity to learn and play baseball and softball in a safe and enjoyable environment while developing the qualities of sportsmanship, respect, discipline, and teamwork. As part of the Little League organization, the young players are exposed to the largest youth sports program in the world, spanning over 80 countries with more than 40 million honored graduates. The young athletes are taught the value of hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship-traits they will carry with them for the rest of their lives and help them develop into leaders both on and off the field.

South Charleston’s Little League starts play April 2nd at Little Creek Park.  The community complex is used year-round by residents and given priority to the city’s Little League throughout the Spring months. In 2014 Act Global manufactured two synthetic turf baseball fields for the park to increase playability and maximize potential usage for the South Charleston community. The artificial grass also provides the benefits of consistent play to remove bad hops, extreme durability, and excellent drainage. The turf was engineered to be comparable in performance, quality, and safety of top MLB stadiums in pristine condition and tested against at the New York Yankees and Houston Astros spring training facilities for confirmation. This means that South Charleston’s Little League players and parents can be confident that their field is the most elite available.

Good luck to each of the Little League teams this season!
