Bend-a-Board Quick Tutorial

Sub-grade Bend-A-Board is a flexible framing material that can be used to simplify the artificial grass installation process while making your installation more robust. Here’s a quick guide on how to use it.

Bend-a-Board is installed after excavation but prior to the creation of the sub base. Bend-a-Board is installed along the project perimeter.

Leave a half-inch gap between the Bend-A-Board and any hardscapes such as patios and driveways. This gap will you allow you to tuck the grass edge between the Bend-a-Board and the hardscape, resulting in a more natural look. The Bend-A-Board is secured in place with 12-inch composite stakes set about three feet apart.

The composite stakes are screwed into the Bend-A-Board. This holds the Bend-A-Board in place and at the proper elevation. The top of your Bend-A-Board should be even with the top of your sub-base. Also, the top of your Bend-A-Board and, later, the top of your sub-base, should be about a half-inch below any adjacent sidewalks, patios, and driveways.

Once you’re ready to install your grass, affix it to the bend a board using a pneumatic stapler.
