There Are Environmental Benefits in Using Synthetic Grass

Our impact on the environment is an issue that is commanding growing attention and for good reason. Many of our activities and choices have an adverse effect on our surroundings but there are many decisions that can be made that will have a beneficial impact on our environment. Our carbon emissions output can be lowered in lots of ways because almost every single choice we make in our daily life has some kind of impact on our carbon footprint.

Synthetic grass is not what you would call an orthodox way of helping the environment. I'd be willing to bet that, when it comes to thinking about how to improve the environment, an option that you have not given any thought to is the kind of lawn you maintain. If you're like the majority of homeowners, your lawn will be made of some kind of living grass which, believe it or not, is not nearly as environmentally friendly as synthetic grass.

Just consider these factors that most people take for granted about maintaining a lush, green lawn: (i) Grass requires herbicides, fertilizers and pesticides to be constantly applied to it; (Ii) You can not keep your grass looking lovely and fresh without regular watering; (Iii) When you water your lawn it grows which then means it has to be cut with the lawnmower; (Iv) All of the above costs money, not to mention the time and effort involved.

Replacing your costly lawn with a synthetic grass equivalent will address each of the environmental matters and will afford you some other benefits to boot. The chemicals that go into your lawn do not stop there, they wash away and eventually leech into our water systems. At a time when water is unavailable in many places, using it to water our grass is essentially a luxury we can not afford. The growth rate of grass in summer is so great that your lawn will need trimming once a week as the grass takes off and grows like at no other time. Cutting the grass every week is yet another source of carbon being added to the atmosphere, it does not matter whether you own a petrol powered lawnmower or an electric lawnmower.

A consideration to the elderly is also a factor. As you age your ability to maintain the lawn will diminish so too might your access to money to pay for the upkeep. Replacing the grass with synthetic grass may well be the answer.

If you live in areas where drought has been a big issue, water restrictions are a regular occurrence. The first thing to suffer during such critical times is the lawn which quickly dies off and goes brown. In extreme circumstances the soil is compacted, the grass disappears forever and you're left with a yard that has turned into a dust bowl.

Changing from natural grass to synthetic grass will make a large difference to your carbon footprint and will be helping to do your bit for saving the environment. Artificial grass will benefit the environment at an increasing rate over time, too, with every second the lawnmower has not had to run, every drop of water saved and every atom of chemical that has not been used. The result puts the environment in an even better position than it otherwise would be.

So our quick summary tells us that we have identified a number of strong positives for using synthetic grass such as the low maintenance aspect, the need for watering is obviated, wear and tear no longer becomes an issue, it looks good all year round and it's better for the environment because it takes away the need for chemical application and a lawnmower.

The monetary savings are the bonus that will convince people that synthetic grass is a worthwhile alternative.
