Our team at Tough Turtle Turf love living in Southern California and enjoy doing activities especially when it’s free. Here are some of our favorite things to do when we are not working hard installing artificial grass.

5) Balboa Park

Balboa Part Tough Turtle Turf Free Things To Do
We consider Balboa Park to be one of San Diego’s CA gems. There is over 65 miles of trails and has one of the largest parks in the United States. You can also view botanical gardens, gardens and Spanish architecture. Don’t forget about the Spreckles Organ Pavilion and on Tuesdays they offer free admission to certain museums.

4) Old Town

Old Town is San Diego’s very first downtown. What makes this place special is the feeling of being at Old Mexico. Explore the 6 block, 12 acre park with many historical sites, museums, restaurants and shops. It is one of our favorite things to do and if you like the supernatural we highly suggest to visit the Whaley House.

3) Brewery Tours

San Diego has become home of the Craft beer scene, so why not do a brewery tour? There are many brewery companies such as La Jolla Brewing Company, The Green Flash Brewing, Stone Brewing, Karl Strauss that offer a behind the scene for free. It’s a great way to sample beers and see the process of making delicious craft beer. If you enjoy the beer a little too much, there are many ways to get around San Diego without having to drink and drive.

2) La Jolla Cove

Get an up-close look at our local sea life in La Jolla Cove. You will find many sea lions frolicking around the shoreline napping and relaxing. You can find some serious cuteness overload for free. Watch these sea lions in their habitat, just remember to leave plenty of room between you and the sea lions. It’s all about boundaries and respect.

1) The Beach

We have over 30 free beaches in San Diego. So, go ahead grab your towel and your beach bag to make it a fun day of surfing or just enjoy the sun. Build sandcastles and go hunting for seashells. Here are a couple of beaches our team recommends: Coronado Beach, La Jolla Shores and Pacific Beach. It’s best advised to get to the beaches as early as possible to avoid crowds and be able to find parking.
