Which is the best garden turf?

With so many different types of turf available to buy online
it can be hard to make a choice. In this article we’re looking at what makes
the best garden turf.

The best garden turf is hardwearing enough to withstand the
rigours of family life, yet healthy, beautiful and easy to care for.

When you are researching garden turf, look out for the
following features that will set it aside from bowling green turf, stadium turf
and other turf for specialist applications

Tips for finding your best garden turf

  • Look for purpose grown cultivated turf
  • Find out what grass species are in the seedmix.
Ideally, the best garden turf will be a blend of ryegrass, smooth stalked
    meadow grass and fescue grasses.
  • “Fine turf” with no ryegrass can be high
maintenance. Unless you are an enthusiastic lawn lover, fine turf is not the
    best garden turf.
  • Check reviews – how have other people got on
with a particular product or supplier?
  • Try to buy direct from the grower – your turf
    will be fresher
  • If you are buying from a retailer such as
B&Q – be sure that your turf has been delivered that day. Old turf never
    makes good garden turf.

Choosing the best garden turf

The best garden turf for you is one that suits your budget,
your lawncare skills, the look and feel of your garden AND your lifestyle.

If you are unable to mow twice a week in spring and summer,
choose a turf that will be happy with a more casual care regime (be aware
though, that lawn care really does have a long-term effect on your lawn’s
appearance. If the grass is stressed and loses condition it may take several
weeks for it to return to its former glory)

There are three grades of garden turf currently available to
order online from Turfonline

Jubilee
Turf

Our
most popular garden turf comes highly recommended by garden designers,
professional landscapers, and home gardeners.

It’s
particularly good looking but at the same time it’s hardwearing enough to cope
with normal everyday use. Perfect for manicured gardens where the lawn sets off
the aesthetic of the whole property.

With
a sensible lawn care regime your established Jubilee Turf will look fantastic
for many years to come.

Choose
Jubilee Turf if you are proud of your garden and want it to look as good as
possible as quickly as possible.

Garden
Lawn Turf

Garden
Lawn Turf will make a strong, healthy, hardwearing lawn. Once established it’s
very easy to look after and will tolerate a fairly relaxed lawn care regime.
Just remember to feed it regularly and never remove more than 1/3 of its length
in any one cut. The better you are at lawn care, the better this turf will look
over time.

This
is our lowest price turf but in this case, low price certainly doesn’t mean
poor quality.

Perfect
for tough gardens where having fun is more important than looking immaculate.
If you have energetic dogs, sporty kids or just love partying in the garden,
Garden Lawn Turf is such good value for money that any signs of wear and tear
just won’t matter.

Choose
garden lawn turf if you want instant groundcover AND superb value for money.

Species
Rich Turf

New for 2019. Species rich turf is a blend of several low growing plant species designed for low maintenance and pollinator friendly gardens. It’s durable enough for kids play and as pretty as a picture.

Choose species rich turf if you only want to mow your lawn a couple of times a month and/or you want to do your bit to boost biodiversity.
