Why Artificial Grass is Ideal for Playgrounds and Child Care Centers

For both indoor play rooms and outdoor spaces, our artificial grass is superior to any other option, even natural turf, for many reasons.

There has been a lot of negative press recently regarding synthetic turf and crumb rubber, which is traditionally used as the infill for athletic fields. Well, we want to assure anyone interested in playground turf that crumb rubber is not used as our infill material. Once again, ProGreen does not use crumb rubber as infill for our artificial turf.

Instead, we offer a variety of different infill products for you to choose from, which ensures that you will get the right one for the needs of your facility. It is important to note that all of these options meet different ASTM fall-height standards. We also have a line of different foam pads that can be installed underneath the artificial grass, which provide extra cushioning and many other benefits including:

• Superior drainage – the pad’s drainage is so effective that kids can be outside playing only 15 minutes after rainfall. The same cannot be said for natural grass.
• Safety – not only are they highly elastic to provide a more comfortable surface for falls, but they are completely free of rubber, lead and any other heavy materials. They are also non-microbial and resistant to bacterial and fungal growth.
• Durability – they retain their shock absorption ratings for many, many years.
• Easier – the foam pads can be used instead of a crushed stone base (depending on your local soil conditions), which will speed up the installation process and save you money.

Of course, many of these benefits pertain to outdoor uses, but we don’t want to overlook how artificial grass can be used indoors as well. You can still install the foam pads underneath the grass even indoors, which is a great option because kids fall inside, too. The anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties are great for indoor uses as well, since we know that kids tend to spill things.

In addition to the safety features, artificial grass is low maintenance and will retain its beautiful green color year-round.
