Why Does Grass Die Or Grow To Fast Under My Trampoline?

This is an interesting question that we get a few times at our retail store and on the phones. People either have issues where the grass under their trampoline grows extraordinarily fast or either dies entirely. There are 2 basic reasons for this and we will discuss what we can do to counteract the effects.

Why Does The Grass Die Under My Trampoline?

Trampoline beds are manufactured using a polypropylene material which is UV (Ultra Violet) resistant which means that very restricted sunlight actually reaches your grass under the trampoline. The first stage where you notice an effect on the grass is the grass will discolour  and started changing to a yellow colour. This signals that the grass is unable to produce the Chlorophyll that it needs and has started the decomposition process. When this happens the simple answer is to move your trampoline to a different area of the garden for a period of time. The longer term fix to that is to plan an area of the garden where the trampoline can go that has more direct sunlight allowing the sun to penetrate the trampoline bed. Besides that there is not too much you can do besides rotating the trampoline position. We tend to use grass feed and compost in the office to help the grass in our gardens.

Why Is The Grass Growing So Fast Under My Trampoline?

Sometimes Trampolines counteract the effect of the grass growing rate and actually increase it. The UV rays are magnified through the trampoline bed if located in hotter climates and in direct sun. This would explain the accelerated growth. Dealing with grass that grows to rapidly is quite simple to manage and there are a number of chemicals on the market to deal with it. Alternatively the environmentally friendly way to deal with it would be to just strim the grass.
